Upon completion of the course and the practical hands-on training, the trainee will be able to:
• List the risk factors for malnutrition.
• Assess nutritional status by using the available clinical tools to identify patients at nutritional risk.
• Identify all the components of Total Parenteral Nutrition.
• Define steps involved in Total Parenteral Nutrition ordering, compounding, verification, administration and monitoring processes.
• Perform all Total Parenteral Nutrition related calculations.
• Practice writing a Total Parenteral Nutrition order according to the patient’s nutrition status.
• Manage fluids and electrolyte disorders in patients receiving Total Parenteral Nutrition.
• Identify and manage the potential complications of Total Parenteral Nutrition.
• Illustrate the Total Parenteral Nutrition monitoring measurements.
• Manage Total Parenteral Nutrition in different disease states.
Upon completion of this course, the participant will be able to manage total parenteral nutrition in a patient from initiation till achieving the goal.
